Controls¶
The full key map for running the engine and driving the drivetrain.
What it is¶
Engone is operated entirely from the keyboard. The core keys cover ignition, starting, throttle, and the clutch/gearbox; a few extra keys handle the UI and the dyno.
Key map¶
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| E | Ignition on/off |
| R | Hold to crank the starter |
| W | Throttle up (blip / hold open) |
| S | Throttle down / close |
| Space | Clutch |
| Shift | Shift up a gear |
| Ctrl | Shift down a gear |
| Tab | Minimize / restore the UI |
On the Dyno page, the Q and A keys act as context controls (for example, raising and lowering the brake load or target). See Dyno.
Why it matters¶
Starting and driving are timing exercises: cranking with R while feeding throttle with W, or using Space to declutch before a gear change with Shift / Ctrl. Knowing the map by feel lets you focus on the gauges instead of the keyboard.
Rule of thumb
Declutch (Space) before shifting, and lift the throttle during the change — the same habits that keep a real gearbox happy.
In the game¶
The active gear, clutch state, and RPM appear on the transmission panel and gauges. Press Tab to hide the UI for an unobstructed view, then Tab again to bring it back.
