The official tuning manual for Engone — a realistic engine & ECU simulator.

Engone puts a working engine and a real-world-style ECU on your desk. You build the engine from individual components, then tune the fuel, spark, and control logic that bring it to life — and the physics responds the way real hardware would. This wiki explains every table, sensor, and setting in plain language: what it is, why it matters, and which way to turn it.

Where to start

If you have never started an engine in Engone, begin with Getting Started. It covers the interface, the controls, and the first-start sequence.

The six categories

  • Fuel — Air-mass estimation, lambda targets, injectors, and the enrichment stack that keeps the engine running cold, hot, and under transients.

  • Ignition — Spark advance, the timing table, knock, and how octane sets the limit. (Petrol only — diesel uses compression ignition.)

  • Sensors — The ECU's inputs: MAP, TPS, coolant and air temperature, oxygen/lambda, fuel pressure, and barometric.

  • Engine Setup — The modular build: base, crank, pistons, head, cam, intake, exhaust, forced induction, and drivetrain.

  • Outputs — What the ECU drives: idle control, fuel cut, boost control, the rev limiter, and the dyno.

  • Reference — Glossary, FAQ, and a modding overview.

How fuelling and spark fit together

In short: the ECU estimates how much air entered the cylinder (speed-density, using the VE table and the MAP sensor), looks up a target lambda, and computes the injector pulse to hit it — then layers enrichment for cold starts and transients and trims toward target with closed-loop feedback. On the spark side it looks up ignition advance and pulls timing back if knock threatens. Everything else on this wiki is a detail of those two loops.
